Being off work with pregnancy related illness

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help.

Im 30+5 weeks pregnant. I suffer from severe sickness and nausea. Ive been quite a lot this pregnancy but ive either had a sicknote or been used my holidays.
My working hours are 3am - 12pm and i work in a factory, the job i do isnt difficult but when i havent been sleeping well so working while having been awake for over 24hrs without sleep makes me sickness even worse so its very hard for me to work.

To get to the point..

Ive been off work since the 03 june 2019 and i called my doctors to get a sicknote and they said my doctor couldnt call me until today which i asked weather the sicknote would be backdated and she said mostlikely.. anyway, fast forward to today i spoke to my doctor and because ive been off already with my pregnancy related illness he had no problem in giving me a sicknote but said because he's only spoken to me about it today he couldnt back date it. Now i dont know what to say to my work because ive missed two weeks off work. Ive got a sicknote now to cover me so with they just put it down as unpaid sickleave or will they give me a disciplinary?

I also dont know how to write it in an email to my work hr so what would i put? If anyone could help id really apreciate it

Could you get back in touch with your doctors and explain you had to wait a while to hear from them? I've had a backdated sick note for pregnancy related illness before.

If not, I guess you could be upfront about the situation to your work and hope they're understanding. Also, they could legally start your mat leave if you're off for preg related illness four weeks before your due date - but best if you talk to them. Do you have a sympathetic manager??

So sorry to hear you've been so ill - it's horrible. Flowers

Goodness that’s bad- over two weeks just to get a call back from a GP? Have you complained?

I guess all you can do is explain the situation to HR- give them details of when and how often you tried to get an appointment or call from your GP, so that they are clear you made every effort you could.

Do you get enhanced sick pay or just SSP?

When did you call the doctor?

I am also wondering when you called the doctor, if you've been off from 3rd June then that is three weeks ago?

Do you mean you had a self cert for 1 week so you've have 2 weeks off with no medical certificate?

What have your work said to you for the last two weeks? Have they accepted that you're sick? You'll have to negotiate with them as to how that time is treated. They don't have to pay you sick pay without medical evidence though.

When you write your email just state the facts and ask how it will be treated. I suspect they have some discretion, so if you really have been waiting that long for the doctor to call you then perhaps they will exercise it - I don't know how you would evidence that though.

I'd be surprised if they disciplined you in the circumstances, you've been off for the same reason, you're obviously pregnant so putting two and two together a reasonable person would conclude that your absence is most likely genuine.

I called my doctors 04th june 2019 and when i called i wasn offered an appointment they just said that the earliest i could get a phone consultation was 19th june 2019 and i asked weather it could be backdated and the lady on the phone said yes. When i asked my doctor of he coukd backdate it he said no because hes only spoken to me on that day.. i coukd show work the times of my phone i called them i guess and the date. All i did was email my work and told then what happened, i think itll just probably go unpaid
