He has the personell skills of a gnat.
It is my wedding anniversary today. He called me over to " justify and explain" where these O/T hours came from.
I am contracted to 20 hrs. But he regulalry asks me to stay. Now he is quiblling over it. I phoned dh to tell him. And then I began to cry. Dh is livid. I give give give. Not any more.

You are right, he's a twonk. Next time he asks you to stay late, smile sweetly and say NO, not if he's going to harass you over your timesheets.

And when I say O/T, it is only paid at my normal rate. He asks me to do more, after month end. And it suits becasue sometimes I sometimes need to leave a bit early to take ..... ds to the 'eye hospital' for eg. But no more. I give and then get scruitinised, in return.
Dh is beside himself with anger.
Not good, when we have a posh dinner planned - do that once in a blue moon.
Am sobbing whilst typing. He is sucha twonk.

Sounds like it's too easy to make you feel guilty. Keep a record of when you arrive at work and when you leave so you can just show him. You really shouldn't be feeling guilty about this.

Oh, I do pointydog, so when he queried me, I had all the answers to hand, I said, well after month end I had, 3 hrs etc etc and eventually he agreed my extra hours. But it was so painful. And I shouldn't have to do this. Surely ?

no you shouldn't have to keep such detailed records of your overtime, but bottom line is if your boss is this rubbish you probably do have to.
Could you perhaps keep a table of your extra hours which is updated, say, weekly and shared with him so there is not an argument later on?
