Pregnant and won't be going back to work. When do I resign?

I'm about 10 weeks preg and already know that I won't return to my work after maternity leave.

My job is great, lovely folks, the hours I want, etc. so I definitely don't want to mess them about, but we are going to move to a different part of the country (we were planning this before I got pregnant), which hopefully will be when I'm 6-7 months.

Does anyone know if I'll still get my full maternity pay if I resign when I go on leave?

Yes, they are. If the travelling weren't so incompatible with looking after a baby, I wouldn't be leaving!! Congratulations on your pg, by the way. Will it be your first?

nah, no.2. Hasn't quite sunk in yet. And I feel rough as a badger's arse. But very happy too of course!

Haven't read whole thread so apologies if already been said - as long as you only get SMP you won't have to pay it back AND when you are on maternity leave you accrue holiday so if you resign at the end of the maternity leave you get paid all your holiday pay ! I knew I wouldn't go back but didn't resign until a year after I'd left and got paid a year's worth of holiday pay which was nice.

MrsBumble is correct - you still have to be employed in 15th week before you EDD (ie 25 weeks) to qualify for your full SMP entitlement - I know this for a fact as I very nearly resigned from my horrendous job while I was still pg.....and discovered that as long as I was still working for them at 25 weeks pg they'd still have to pay me.
