Taking on new staff when company closing down

Hi
I work for a company who's lease is not being renewed and they will have to close down in June. They have just employed a new person for the office without telling her the situation. I think this is dreadful, does anyone know if this is legal?
Thanks

Perfectly legal yes. Although slightly odd- would be usual to employ someone on a temp contract. Are you sure they haven’t? Presumably she knows the situation now anyway?

Hi Flowery
I understand the person interviewing her was told NOT to tell her anything and this would be typical of the way the owners run the company . I expect she does now know the situation. I just hope she didn't give up another job to take this one

Nothing you can do about it anyway
