I have to fill in an application form for a sunday job. I know not all that important really but I would really like to get it as I hate sunday at home.

Prob is I have no previous experiance of anything and no referees i can think of or anything like that.

I have applied for similar jobs in the past and struggled to fill out the forms and then suspected it could be why i was turned down. Along with no experiance of course.

Oh it's in Clintons card shop by the way.

Referees can be personal ones too, if you have no work related ones. Find someone in a profession who can say what a honest person you are. Have you maybe helped out in school at all? - If so, the teacher may be able to help. And it is all about honesty, punctuality, trust worthyness.

Interests? Can you not link the Internet in their someone (research, furthering your knowledge, parenting issues)? Do you go to the gym? Walk? Diet - interest in health issues (don't have to say what as such)?

Well for interts think of things that are relevent - you enjoy talking to people on mumsnet, meeting new people - good people/communication skills, you have three children and so have good time managment, you have good ICT skills - did you do nay work experince at school (even if it was a long time ago put it down). Hope this is a start - am sure people will have better ideas!

Well references i always find hard, haven't done any work in a volutary cpacity or anything like that.
I can put a work referecne for when i worked in a hotle but that was about 7 yrs ago and i was only a room attendant.

I do know someone who has known me since i was 5 but she is the mother of my friend, can i use her or not. She knows all about me, honesty, trustworthyness e.t.c

Cazzybabs - H.V excellent idea, only she left a few mths ago. She lives right by me, maybe i could put a note through her door and ask her to ring me.

Erm other teachers were....Mr Mansell (he was mt form teacher), Mrs Bojan, Mrs Davies, Mr Emms, can't think of anymore...........Don't think any of them would remember me anyway, I was pretty unforgetable.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 02/09/2004 19:24

Nutty, do you know your doctor well/get on with them? They are often asked to be referees.

I asked my vicar to be a referee for my present job!

Re. interests - socialising is an interest. What do you usually do with the kids? If you take them out on walks, put walking down. If you take them to music sessions, put that down. You could also put swimming if you go regularly. I would avoid putting down "watching TV" (I used to work for a recruitment agency and it was seen as a sign of laziness!!!!!)

codswallop · 02/09/2004 19:30

Mrs bojan deffo there still and she has been promoted
they have a standard ref they give out that would do tyou proud for that job

codswallop · 02/09/2004 19:31

oh and for itnerests you put
"currnet affiars
poular culature and spending tiume raisig my young and active family"
Got me into Jp ing!

except you type in rporely

nutcracker · 02/09/2004 19:39
