can I use my P45 for my second job?

I started my current job two months ago, this is my first job after a few years as a full time mum. I use P45 for this job, but the employer just kept a copy of it and returned the original P45 to me. I will start a part time job next month, but prefer not letting the second employer know I have aother job.

I searched on the Internet, it is said employee doesnt have P45 for second job and should fill a P46.

So my question is: should I give P45 to my second job or fill a P46?

Many thanks.

You'll need to fill in a P46 (or now called HMRC started checklist) there is a box to tick for having another job.

As an aside, certainly at my work, not telling us of a second job would be disciplinary action so you might want to consider if there is any clauses in your contract regarding that.

Starter checklist is what you want now if you don't have a p45.

Thank you Ragevibration and wafflyversatile. My current job is a short contract and will finish two months later, but the second job is a long-term part time job.

It looks like that I have to tell the second employer that I have another job. How about the original P45 I am holding, is it can be used twice?

It's likely if you do that your tax will be all wrong and you'll end up owing HMRC money so I wouldn't recommend that
