Reduced hours, but with full time rights? NHS employee.

Can anybody help me with this? I’m asking due to thinking of reducing my hours further in the future.

Until 2010, I worked full time, 37.5 hours a week.. I decided then to reduce my hours to 30 hours for family reasons. I now work 4 days a week instead of 5.

At the time, my then manager was issuing us with new uniforms, and having reduced my hours, I was expecting the same amount of tops/skirts etc as my other part time colleagues, pro rata.

Anyway, when I received my uniform, I found she’d given me the full time equivalent.

I questioned this to her, thinking she’d forgotten I reduced my hours, and she replied something on the lines of: you reduced your hours, but you still have full time rights......

(Not that I’m moaning about having more uniform than I think I should have, as it’s a bonus for washing 😄)

And dh says the same, but still it doesn’t sound right.

Surely, I’m classed as part time being below 37.5 hours a week, so why would I be still given full time rights? Is there some sort of cut off point/middle ground, like say if I go under 30 hours, I would then be classed as part time?
Confused isn’t the word. Please help. Many thanks.

She's confused about the legal position so don't assume it applies to anything apart from the amount of uniform she's decided to give you. Things like holiday, pay etc will all be pro rated.

Ah right ok, well, yes my pay and holiday entitlement did get reduced, so there must have been some sort of confusion on her part, thanks.

The funny thing is, I got the full time uniform equivalent in my next (different) dept...

I’ve got loads of blouses etc..😄.

How many uniforms do ft staff get? I assume not 5. So if they get say three, reducing it to two if on 30h might mean then same number than someone on say 2 or 3 days, so maybe its full allowance for 5 and 4 days and half allowance for 3 and 2 days or something like that.

It doesn't really matter though does it?

Part time workers do have the same employment rights as full time workers.

That is not the same thing as having same pay and allowances, those would obviously be pro rated. I think she is confused and probably should have given you prorated uniforms as well.
