Anyone applied for a job through NHS jobs before?

Just wondering Sad

Dream job came up last week. I applied for it on the 20th September. Their closing date was 21st September.

It is now the 28th September and still no invite to interview. The page says the following:

Closing date: 20/08/2018
Interview date: 19/10/2018

What do you think? Am I still in with a chance? The actual interview isn't until the 19th October I suppose...

Are they usually slow at sending text and email invites for interviews?

I remember getting my old job through their website. I think I remember applying for loads and not hearing for a good couple of weeks, then hearing from about 4 posts inviting me to interview within a few days of each other!

My memory isn't great, I could be wrong.

They often say if you haven't heard after 2 weeks then you have not been shortlisted. Best of luck with your applications (I have used NHS jobs frequently in the past)

In an ideal world managers line up shortlisting and it all works quickly. Sounds like in this case they’ve allowed time for an extension to the advert or been disorganised with convening a shortlisting panel. I wouldn’t panic. It’s usual to only get a week’s notice of an interview.

Yeah I just got offered a new role through nhs jobs. But mine had an interview date in the job advert so double check if yours did.
NHS recruitment is notoriously shit and slow so don’t be surprised that if you have been shortlisted for interview that you get a couple of days notice.

SequinsOnEverything · 28/09/2018 23:00

Sometimes it actually is weeks (4 Is the most I've seen so far) before they shortlist. It's very annoying.

Babyroobs · 28/09/2018 23:05

Yes I applied on NHS site a couple of month ago and they took ages with not a great deal of time to go before interview so don't lose hope just yet.

swingofthings · 29/09/2018 06:37

Totally still in. Considering they let you know the interview date in advance you can expect not to hear until a week before sometimes even a few days.

I applied through NHS jobs. Heard nothing. I rang them to ask for feedback why I hadn’t got an interview- it was for a specialist role so I should have at least got an interview.
When I rang them - they told me I had got an interview in 3 days time?!! The NHS site had somehow failed to let me know about it.

I went to the interview and got the job.
Maybe you could call them and ask for feedback why you didn’t get an interview?

Shutityoutart · 29/09/2018 06:45

Ah - just seen dates etc - I wouldn’t call yet but maybe in another week or so. When I rang , the interview dates were in 3 days time.

Owletterocks · 29/09/2018 06:49

I have applied through nhs jobs before a couple of times. I didnt get shortlisted for one application but they did let me know. They will contact you either way so I would say you are definitely in with a chance still.

Have you checked your junk email folder?

R00tat00tt00t · 29/09/2018 07:07

It's possibly just a typo in your OP but if the closing date is 20/08/18 then that's 20th of August not September so you missed the deadline? That would be an awful long wait til interview though (2 months). Sorry if this is the case and just ignore me if it was a typo.

StealthPolarBear · 29/09/2018 07:15

It's not really anything to do with the site, as soon as the deadline passes the recruiter is notified and they then have to shortlist and update the site with the results. That can take a while, especially as they usually like two people to shortlist and then compare notes.

princesspeppax · 29/09/2018 10:40

I applied in July for a position and only received a letter to go for an interview last week Smile

PongoPingoPango · 29/09/2018 10:50

Definitely call them, ask for feedback on your application, even if you didn't get the job it shows your keen and they may even give you a few pointers, I've been told that they look for key words in the applications so it's harder to get in if you don't have experience, I found once I had done some volunteering I started to get interviewed

Best of luck Thanks

swingofthings · 29/09/2018 11:47

No don't call them yet. You know the day of the interview so no need to come across as desperate or pushy. I agree you should contact them 3 days before. Whether they inform you that you've been shortlisted or not depends on the organisation. Most will have a statement on the site saying that if you've not heard by x, it means you haven't been successful, some will add not to contact them.

Newjobtime1 · 29/09/2018 22:43

I applied for a role with a closing date of the 19th and had an interview invite yesterday. So it maybe next week that they let you know.
Mine went onto my spam folder so have you checked that?
