I feel like a 21 year old again, but I'm 45

I don't know what I want to do with my life. My kids are getting bigger (Y5 and Y8) and I want to work. Somehow I've ended up working in a Nursery part time, but I am not qualified for this and therefore it is very low pay. I do enjoy it, but it's also very tiring.

I don't know where to start thinking about what I'd like to do. I don't mind retraining, but I just don't have any ideas. I fell into a very good job after Uni. By that, I mean I applied for loads of jobs and got a very good one, but I just applied for everything and anything. I've never pursued a dream. I don't know if I have one, and if I should have one. But I do want to work.

Where do I start?

Have you tried doing a Myers-Briggs style questionnaire? I don’t fully buy into the whole work personality thing, but how you feel about some of the suggested job types might give you a start.

Also, where there any subjects at school or University you wish you’d taken further?

Thanks Bertrand. I did one years ago for work. I should probably do it again as I think I've changed. It had me as an ENFP. I can't remember if it recommended jobs. I think you have to pay for the job recommendations bit these days. I just feel a bit old and grey (literally) to start at graduate level again, but maybe it depends on the job.

Hi Merry have you looked any further into jobs?

I don't know either because I find doing anything for an extended amount of time gets boring. What did you do at uni?

Sounds similar to me, DC similar ages, used to teach and work in a nursery but not keen on that anymore.
