Anyone on here specialise in this area?
So I resigned from my current role and here's the conversation between my boss and I.
Me: sorry to tell you I'm resigning as of today
Her: no...how long have you known (angry voice)
Me: not long
Her: how long? (Aggressive tone)
Me: a few weeks
Her: with everything that's going on you didn't think to tell me?
Me: well I wasn't going to tell you or anyone until I was ready and had a job offer. Wasn't aware I needed to tell you any earlier?
Her: how long is your notice period?
Me: think it's 3 months
Her: well that's definitely non-negotiable
Her: and with mid-years coming up it's was going to be a difficult conversation anyway as you've not been performing as I expected. I know you've had personal things going on...
Me: oh ok, sure
By this time I'm totally gobsmacked by her reaction to my resignation
Cut a long story short she thinks she's a friend but really I wouldn't call her that I mean yes we talk about personal stuff but occasionally and I don't really get on with her that well but I assume she reacted that way because she thought as a "friend" I would confide in her earlier??? She's my boss why would I?
Anyway she's making my life difficult at the moment and I just don't think she's handling my resignation well. Seeing as I'm the 3rd to resign this month. And she's having to deal with lots of rubbish at work and HR issues.
So my question is what should I do? I'm clearly not happy with the way she spoke to me but I don't want to make a fuss as it will only provoke her to make it worse for me. However I don't think she should be allowed to speak to me like that. I expected congratulations or is there anything we can do etc. Not what was said. Also can I ask to leave earlier?
Is there anything that can be done? I'm not sure I can survive 3mths!!!
