I'm not sure about the hourly rates but its also worth looking at discounts and perks at different places as they vary massively.

I was talking to a lovely guy who works in Gap the other day (DP was trying on loads of trousers and stuff ) -he said in Gap they get 50% off(I think?)plus they get monthly vouchers for extra discounts and freebies.

In comparison he said that at some sports shop chain (JJB?) you only get a pathetic 10% off and thats only on full price items.

thats a good point

I thought I'd start at the hourly rate and then look further

anyone else?

looking on Retailmoves £5.50-6.50 ph seems to be the rate quoted for Sales Advisors depending on level , you might get more for experience or in a city/regional shopping centre. Benefits would be on top (uniform , discount, profit share(JL/ Waitrose score highly for that), pension and so on)

again not sure about hourly rates, but O'Neil staff get a huge discount, something like 75% if not more.

Do they have to wear it as uniform, may only apply to so many outfits if so ?

I worked for next and about £6 an hour, but i was a merit level and sunday floor manager so not just started. Discount wise (this is pretty standard for most places) you get 25% off everything except uniform, uniform you get 75% but on a certain value. eg if you worked full time it was about £300 worth of clothing that you had 75% but then you had to wear these clothes at work. I have also worked for Arcadia group- Walis, DP, miss self, topshop etc and it was the same rules, howver the discount card was a store card and you got the bill every month. Next did discount at Point of Sale. Feel free to ask me anything else!
