Parental leave when one parent works & lives abroad

Hi All

We're in the stage of considering our options should we become lucky enough to have kids. However, my wife and I live apart. I commute to her each weekend. She lives and works in a EU country and I live and work in the UK (I have residency rights for her country even post brexit). My aim is to move to her but obviously it can be difficult to find an equivalent job and the current set up is working.

So my question is how does parental leave work in such cases? Am I only entitled to the two weeks paternity leave or are we still eligible for shared parental leave?

I would continue (at least initially) to work in the UK and commute. My mother in law would live with my wife to start with to make sure we had support .

Sorry for the technical question and not sure if anyone would be able to help but worth asking.
