Can someone help me with my covering letter?

I want to apply for a job. My current one is in the same industry but not area of interest. My old one was the same area of interest so do I start off my covering letter with my most relevant experience in my old job (which I left a year ago) or just what I'm doing now (which is still relevant but not as much)?

Your experience should be detailed on your CV. Your covering letter should give a brief introduction to yourself and where you currently work, but mostly focus on what attracts you to the position. Importantly, focus on what you can bring to the position - highlight transferable skills. If you've got relevant experience of both the industry and area, point it out. It shouldn't matter that it was two different jobs.

Thanks, grumpy! I hate doing covering letters. Always feel like I'm very bad at selling myself.
