Hi Everyone!
New Mumsnet user here! Grin
I work for an extremely large bank and last month went for the (internal) job of a lifetime after weeks of prepping and waiting for the right role to come up... and I got it!!
I'm due to start mid-May, and they have already started interviewing for my role. Thing is, last Monday (16th April) I found out that I am 6 weeks pregnant, which my partner and I are over the moon about!
What do I do??? Do I still go ahead and take the job?
It's slightly longer hours and will be a lot more stressful, but it's the opportunity I have been waiting for since I started the company. I know that I could cancel and keep my current job if I wanted (as an easy option), as they really don't want me to leave. I have been so desperate for this new job for ages but I feel like my preganancy may change this? I have spoken with HR (off the record) and they advised that, as it's an internal move, I will still be entitled to the full years mat leave inc pay. I'm just worried about it from a moral side, taking a new job then telling I'm pregnant? When should I tell them?
Thank you SO much in advance!!! Smile

I’m a bit puzzled why you’re even considering turning down your long-awaited dream job just because you will be going on maternity leave in 7 months or so. Carry on as planned, for goodness sake!

As for when to tell them, most people wait until after the 12 week scan, unless your role involves health and safety risks in which case you might want to tell them sooner.

Take the job

Take the job! You've got ages until you go on mat leave!

Congratulations!
