Being paid in lieu

Hi everyone
I was dismissed from work at the beginning of the month due to long term absence.

On my final report from the school it said"you will be paid 11 weeks pay in lieu of notice as required by your contract of employment"

Can someone explain to me what this means.

What is the basis for your appeal Cupcakes ? Do you feel you'll be well enough to return to work shortly?

The school didn't follow the sickness procedures when they dismissed me
