Returning to work and baby sleep times

Hi,

I was hoping to get some advice from working moms. I'm on maternity leave atm but when I return to work I would like to request compressed hours. If granted, this would mean leaving the house at about 7.10am and getting back at about 6.30pm. My baby will be 12 months at that point. I'm thinking that this will mean trying to get baby to go to sleep at about 7.30pm and getting them up at about 6.30am. They will be cared for by family on the days I'm at work so in theory should be able to go straight back to sleep once dropped off if necessary (we will get a travel cot). However, with my work schedule, at best my baby would only get 11 hours sleep at night 3 nights a week and that's only if things go to plan - if I'm delayed or they won't settle it will be more like 10 hours. Do you think that this will be okay?

Yes and the baby can nap in the day. You might find the sleep schedule and your routine naturally changes. For example making it a later bedtime so you can see the baby a bit more but don't worry about the baby getting enough sleep! Xx

Should be fine. At that age, I think the recommended sleep amount is 9-12 hours at night and up to 3-4 hours of naps in the day. We've had a similar routine as yours since DS was 6 months.
