Are you or have you ever been a cleaner?

Just got back into work and am cleaning for the first time. Just wondered what you think of it and what environment do you work in? Someone's house, an establishment like a school etc? I'm the latter.

I didn't expect it to be fun but it already feels a bit soul destroying and a few hours a day drains me as much as my full time job did.

How did you find it and how long did you last?

I am self employed earn ok money from work around my daughter enjoy it its stress free I'm good at what I do so can charge a higher premium. Wouldn't want to do anything else to be honest!

I clean, I found offices the worst- very repetitive and boring.
Houses are better, especially if you get on well with the people you clean for, if they are in you can have a chat.
Get left gifts or things at certain times of year and it's flexible

I've been doing it since last summer, I have a number of different clients, some are weekly, some are fortnightly. On average I work 2 to 3 hours per day (mornings only) which suits me because my kids are in school. It doesn't sound much but I am often wrecked tired when I get home, it's physical work and some people really try to get their money's worth! I like it though, I'm working for myself and it's not stressful, plus it pays relatively well. I'm working in people's homes btw.

Cleaner here - over 5 years and love it ! Advertise your services on care.com/other sites and you can meet the customers and decide if you want the jobs! I was full time but cut back when I had ds but still doing well. If you aren't happy keep looking - some jobs are better than others!

Ugh it's shit. I can't wait to leave. It's not in someone's house, it's covering an entire floor of an establishment. I'm already being micromanaged, unfairly and without good reason. At 5am for minimum wage.

Pulled up for being slow when I'm literally running between rooms. Every single person there has the same complaint about this person as me and warned me in advance but I thought they seemed nice, nah.

My cleaning is fine, nothing is left unfinished. Why bother moaning at me 45 minutes nto a shift when I always get everything done.

Morale = gone.

I only need to be told something once, but I do need to be told! I'm not going to automatically know to do something not mentioned.

Sorry the last paragraph was about being moaned at for not doing something that wasn't mentioned to me. Random, inconspicuous things.

What I had to cover was explained to me and so I did that. I'm happy to do the other things but tell me first FFS!

I do it in a small private hospital. I LOVE it. Lovely community spirited and am pretty much left to my own devises so long as the work is finished.
