Employee dismissal - when should they be paid?

Hoping there might be somebody here with knowledge of employment law? Can’t get through to our HR company until the morning but need to deal with this situation tonight.

If an employee is dismissed, when should they receive their final salary? Our payroll is monthly but this ex-employee is demanding their pay before the last day of the month (when all staff are paid). Do they have any legal grounds to do this?

Thank you

I don't know the legal standing but we would just pay on the normal pay date

Good to know, thank you (worrying I’ve done the wrong thing!)

Normal pay date is fine.

They should be paid within the terms of their contract, so whatever day they are usually paid. Assuming all correct protocols have been taken. He has no legal right to be paid any sooner
