My new website: your advice!

I have just set up a new parenting/style website called Pret A Parent and I would really love if you would take a minute to have a look and let me know what you think or if you have any advice? I have been working on it for about nine months so it does feel like my new baby - my youngest calls it "mummy's webshite" she can't pronounce "s" yet or at least I hope that's why. If you think there is anything I should be doing more of please let me know? Or if there is anything you would like to read about? It's very hard to build something entirely from scratch with no backing, no following etc so I would love to get your advice. The link is...

Oh yes it's probably not a good idea to aggravate on the subscription section - the bit where you most want to entice people in! I will change that - curate I chose because it was carefully selected things chosen by me but I know what you are saying makes you think of an art gallery. It's so good to read all these things you don't like or that are irritating I would never have thought of them.
And yes if you can believe it puffers are the hottest thing to wear in the cold! Let me know if there is anything you would like to see more of...lovely to chat to you and hear your thoughts.

30 second glance, it looks beautiful, very high end, but probably very niche to a high end market and a bit 'London'

Beautifully designed though

NorWoman · 13/12/2017 17:21

Yes I like it a lot. More fashion and cooking tips please. Thanks

NorWoman · 13/12/2017 17:23

Oh and I like that it's high end (the boots at £50 are roughly the same price as Clarks but look so much nicer) but please don't go too high end e.g. Tatler snobbish style. In other words keep it aspirational but Real.

Pretaparent · 13/12/2017 19:49

Thank you for looking @norwoman and @sparklingsnowfall. Fashion and food I can definitely do - yes my two favourite things.
@mummyinthenecropolis thank you for your lovely message. That's a brilliant idea - I don't have a clue what the answer is but I could interview someone who does. I would be interested to know and I'm sure lots of mums with teenage girls are in the same boat! I don't know what I'll do when my girls start pinching all my beauty. Although my youngest does like to mess with it all already!

The white writing/light background is when you click on shopping:mamas for example, and the boxes with articles pop up.

Strangely I could hardly read it when I opened the site on my desktop at work, yet when I'm looking at it on my phone it's much clearer. For a example though check out the 'ultimate mid priced handbag' square.

It's definitely worse on the desktop. Mobile phone is much better and I probably wouldn't have picked up on it had I just looked on my mobe!

I'm joining now. Just been having another look and this is right up my street. I'll tell some of the other mums at work too.

Pretaparent · 14/12/2017 08:44

Ok thank you so much @DrMumMum I shall look right now! And thank you for spreading the word. Talking on mumsnet has made me feel more motivated than anywhere else - it's so good to get your feedback so thank you.

And I've just seen exactly what you mean! Yes it's not clear at all you are right...

Well designed and nice content. However, it takes longer time to fully load the page.

Pretaparent · 15/12/2017 11:33

Oh no does it - it really shouldn't! Were you looking on a desktop or a mobile? Thank you so much for looking at all!

Love the look of it. My developer has been at me to switch from Divi to Uncode, and I have been resisting, but this is gorgeous. Well done!

KhalliWali · 20/12/2017 09:51

Oh gosh, it's beautiful! It has a similar vibe to Junior Magazine from 16 years ago. I really like and would definitely sign up.

Please could I ask for your advice again if you have a minute - I am thinking about different interactive articles to post. Would you would be interested in a Q&A type piece like this in Goop where you could send in your questions and they would be answered by me (or an actual expert!)
goop.com/style/ask-an-editor/ask-anne-wardrobe-clean-out/
goop.com/style/ask-an-editor/ask-anne-festive-but-not-overdressed/
Are there any articles or formats that you like to look at for fashion/style/parenting? If you have any thoughts it would be really helpful - thank you very much!!
