I was sacked this week. The week before I made a complaint to my boss that the company IT man had been logging onto my worktop whilst I was using it at home. My friends husband (who runs an IT company)confirmed this by looking at the logs for the remote access.

What I did not realise is that the IT man in question is my ex-bosses brother in law. I am unsure if this is a criminal offence or not and whether I should pursue it?

so would you be saying different if I hadn't been sacked and had to go in there tomorrow knowing that the IT man and possibly senior management had been listening into my private conversations etc for the last 9 months without telling me daisychain?

Give the ACAS helpline a call tomorrow and see what they advise.

If they've got any sense, they will have probably wiped the laptop and reinstalled it. It may well still be possible to get the logs, if they're not all overwritten, but forensic investigations are time-consuming and expensive, and I doubt anyone would think this was worth the effort. It's hardly a several million bank fraud.

If you have been dismissed there is no relationship with company to worry about. Report to police and get them to investigate. It is an offence if he is watching you, and they'll find it.
