has declaring pregnancy early ruined my job prospects?

Hello Mumsnet, I hope you can help.

I have worked at my current employer since March 2016 on a rolling contract.

Always had positive observations and feedback, I've never had any warnings and I've got a great rapport with everyone.

This year, I declared my pregnancy at the beginning of May, just before my contract is due for renewal - put in my application and got shortlisted. After completing 3 tests, I was interviewed but failed to secure the position - I was the only internal not to secure a position, 4 of us went for 3 jobs.

I discovered today that a colleague who didn't get shortlisted after the 3 tests has been offered a permanent contract.

I don't understand, and a lot of my colleagues are bemused as to why this has happened - telling me to push for a tribunal.

This is my first pregnancy and I'm so knocked sideways by it all, does anyone have any similar experiences?

If you are paid directly by the company employing you on fixed term you have the same rights as a permanent employee. You could have a case for discrimination. You need to prove you were not selected because of your pregnancy not for another reason.

I would document dates times and events that peove they knew before they made their decision. Did they give you interview feedback as to why they did not renew. What was their stated reason? Take the facts to a solicitor and seek advice.
