How to find out about maternity benefits before accepting job offer?

I've just been offered a new job but chances are my partner and I may want to try for a baby in the next year or two so maternity benefits are an important factor when deciding whether to leave my current job. Is there any way I can find out about the maternity benefits before I accept the job offer? I don't feel that I can ask before I am employed so a bit stumped on what to do.

If it is local authority then look at the green book. If not, sorry not sure you can!

It would be unusual for someone to only want to move jobs if maternity benefits are good- there are usually other more important factors. If you are ambivalent about moving jobs to the extent that maternity benefits might be a deal breaker then I'd suggest not moving.

If you wouldn't take up the new job if it has statutory only maternity benefits then you're not committed enough to the new job to justify moving and giving up job security.

Yes looked everywhere and no info! The company are one of The Times top 25 employees so I'm hoping their policies will be good. Maternity benefit isn't a deal breaker but it's an important part of the overall package to consider. It's not about lack of commitment to the job, it's just about future planning and affordability if we do decide to try for a family.

My employer is in the top Times employers and only statutory maternity pay I'm afraid! Ask for the employee handbook, it may be in there!

There is a website called glassdoor that has lots of info including reviews from employees- you might find out from there?

I work in recruitment and a couple of people have asked for our maternity policy before accepting- I just send it over to them . Glass door is also a good shout

Why don't you name the employer and ask here? If it's a big firm then someone will know!

Alternatively, ask about the benefits package and see if they direct you to somewhere you can get more info.

Just ask them. If they've already offered you the job, they can't rescind the offer just because you ask about mat pay etc. Keep in mind that entitlement (usually) only kicks in once you've been in post for a year.
