Anyone know what this means on a pay slip? *noob alert*

Recently gone back to work after a long break. Not sure if in the right section. (Also I'd rate my knowledge on this topic at -10)

On my most recent payslip there's an "adj. ad hoc payment" showing and I've been paid a little extra.
Obviously I'm not complaining, in fact this could really help me out this moth but I'm not sure what it's for?
I hope it's not a mistake that I'll have to pay back so until I double check everything I won't spend any of it just in case.

Does anyone know what these payments are? All it says is literally "Adj. ad hoc payment" and shows X amount.

Any help would be really appreciated!

is it holiday pay that you didnt take?

i would say tax but the tax office give rebates,
could it be NI?

I don't pay NI as don't earn enough although now that you mention it I think there was a small amount deducted on that payslip

I did take some holiday days before the end of the year so I was pretty sure I used them all up.....

I also had 2 sick days which are unpaid as I work on a salary.

I am no expert but I did pay roll course a while ago and I'd say it's because you have worked either less than a full month or more than a full month and the monthly amount had to be adjusted accordingly for your first month's pay.

It's an adjusted ad hoc payment. Probably because you didn't start back on the first day of the payroll month, so they've added the extra few days in.

But on the payslips I produce for my staff there is a payslip note section where I would have told the staff member how this is calculated. And they should've told you where that payment came from - because after all, you want to make sure it's been calculated correctly.

I think you should ask them - preferably by email so you have the reply in writing for you to keep for reference.

It's an ad hoc payment made as an adjustment, but no one here will be able to tell you what's being adjusted, you'll need to ask them for clarification.

You'll have to ask. If it was an adjustment for days worked outside the calendar month it should specify exactly what days this covers.
"ad hoc" really doesn't cover it.
