I have been out of work for about 2 months now, i'm so fed up, i go job centres, ring up places, look on the internet, send lots of cvs. AND there's just nothing about or you don't get any feedback from ure cvs etc, I just wanna earn some money and just peed off. Anyone else feel this way?

Have you tried turning up at possible places of employment and offering your services?

daisy26 · 01/03/2007 22:42

what do you mean?

Well for example, if you want to work in retail, go to a shop and ask to speak to the manager. Say you want to work and do they have any jobs. Turning up in person can be more effective than writing or phoning. Of course it's a lot more effective if they have already advertised that they want staff.

oh right see what you mean, yeh iv'e done that loadsa times and you just get bring a cv in all the time, which I do, but then that's all you hear. When you ring up again saying I handed a cv in blah blah, what's happenin sort of thing? Then something else comes up oh we haven't got any vacancies at the min

Daisy you have my sympathy - I spent the summer trying but I'm over-qualified and specialist so nobody else would have me despite lots of experience. I finally
gave up at 12 weeks pg - trying not to think what will happen when I'm ready to go back . Good luck!!

phd life so have you got a job now.I have 3 years experience in travel n tourism but dnt wanna work in a travel agent. I'm just sorting something out for nannying to become an approved one but waiting for my marks, then i gotta find a family. I had a nice job so i thought in a nursery but the owner was picking on me so I had to leave, I just wanna work on my own now for time being. Previously before this i was at another nice job but the woman bullied me and others, unfortunately I ddnt do anything about it, 5 years on she still seems to be there. I DON'T KNOW HOW

Sorry Daisy - no job - 33wks pg and counting. Have been in bad bullying jobs though so know the feeling about wanting to work on your own and think it's a good idea (so long as you don't go stir crazy!) I suspect the independence would far outweigh any difficulties - I am thinking of abandoning my career for something I can do more freelance when LO is out and about, obviously. Not for a while yet! Best of luck to you. Persistence!

thanks hopefully something come up soon. Well i'm gonna do nannying people say yeh it's boring, but it depends on how u plan the day. But i haven't got anyone watching me all day, I can do what activities i want unless parents tell me different. Got two families I think lined up but as they r benefits gotta flipping wait for things to be sorted and approved. Not simple nemore just to become a nanny. I could of been starting like Now but can't
