Currently 400 miles from home. My friend drove us to see a show and his car has broken. Nobody would fix it yesterday. Currently sat outside a kwikfit but I told my boss it was MY CAR and he wants to see the receipt. I'm so stupid. My dad said it was better to say it was mine. How tf do I get out of this!

Is this not the first time something like this has happened? For your boss to react that way makes me wonder if you have 'previous' IYKWIM.

scaryclown · 06/02/2017 11:08

i would tell him to fuck off. or 'no you don't' or 'oh piss off Derek, discipline me if you seriously dont trust me, lets see how that goes' or big smile and 'fundamental breakdown of trust? are you firing me? can you pay me whilst i'm on suspensio, can you?, please derek suspend me and pay me whilst you investigate the fraud..pleeeeease'

LIZS · 06/02/2017 11:12

You couldn't have got a coach or train back this morning? Are you taking today out of annual leave?

scaryclown · 06/02/2017 11:17

Actually i would just go i'm not going to show you tge receipt, silly, but call the garage if you like, its kwikfit sonewhere near x. leave him to fund out which one. make noises about 'its happened' and 'its weird you are obsessed with this are you ok?'

Its perfectly reasonable for 'my car' to mean 'the car i was in'. i use it for all sorts of vehicles i use friends' hire etc.
just like i use 'my house' when its a flat.

if you say 'my train was cancelled' you don't have to show your ownership and government licence to operate a rail service ffs..!!!

so just say 'my car again and when he gets all miss marple say oh no not my fiesta or whatever, i mean my transport on the day.. and make a Hmm face as though he is being weird.

daisychain01 · 06/02/2017 12:32

I'm sure your boss has better things to do than keep up with this charade.

Just get back to work tomorrow, OP, offer to take today as annual leave, and promise it was a one- off. Then work an extra hour to make sure your boss knows you mean business.

That's what I would do anyway. Forget all the crap about Kwikfit, it's irrelevant.

girlelephant · 09/02/2017 22:34

OP how did you get on with the receipt & your boss?

wishesandkisses · 10/02/2017 17:58

Sorry for late replies! You'll never guess. Someone was looking after me that day. The guy at the garage put all my car details on the reciept! Never again shall I lie to my boss!

OP posts:
girlelephant · 10/02/2017 22:43

Very much you Wink

girlelephant · 10/02/2017 22:44

^ sorry that should say very "lucky" you!

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2017 23:00

Your friend must be very understanding. i would want my registration on the receipt if it was my car being fixed due to parts guarantees etc

treaclesoda · 10/02/2017 23:01

It's a bit ironic that someone would lie to their boss by falsifying records, just because you didn't want to own up to lying to your boss!

daisychain01 · 11/02/2017 12:09

Thats shocking im amazed that a company with a reputation as widely held as Kwikfit would employ someone who would falsify records. That's a sackable offence.

Dont think you are that clever OP

HateSummer · 12/02/2017 09:03

I think this is bs. How can anyone be this afraid of their boss and which boss wants to see receipts unless they have a penchant for lying regularly. And this thread kind of proves the op lies. So pathetic. Grow up and start owning up to your shit OP. False details on a receipt is really low.

daisychain01 · 12/02/2017 09:22

I agree hatesummer. I like the Employment board because it is devoid of that made-be sensationalist crap generally found on AIBU !

wishesandkisses · 12/02/2017 21:45

At the end of the day I was very silly as I am terrified of my boss. I have never lied to him before and I never will again (when I asked my boss why he needed it he stated he would ask any member of staff). I asked if the car make/model be on the receipt and if it was optional, could we take it off. He asked why, I told the story and he offered to do it. I'm sorry if you are offended by this.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2017 21:48

Nobody is offended. But I doubt Kwik Fit should be doing that, isn't it falsifying documents? Confused

HateSummer · 12/02/2017 23:30

It's all a sham isn't it? What if they needed specific parts for a specific car and the records state that another car came in? Isn't that messing up the stock accounts? Pretty stupid of them.
You need to grow a backbone op. This is ridiculous.

Koalafications · 12/02/2017 23:37
Hmm

How incredibly unprofessional of KwikFit.
