How do I get my boss to respect me?

I've tried being agreeable, being assertive, getting everything done to the best of my ability and on time, showing respect, being kind, being useful and on hand, not complaining, thinking before I speak, having new ideas...

What else can I do? My boss shows me so little respect- barely lets me talk to people outside of the organisation, keeps control over my work, ignores my ideas or says they're shit....

How do I get to the point where I'm just trusted to get on with my work? :-(

  1. be worthy of respect It sounds like you are, though. Maybe time to look elsewhere?

Thanks phil I've been thinking about it. Feel if I was given enough opportunity then I could prove myself but I'm never given the chance. It's a vicious cycle!
