Geography teacher

Love it (most of the time!)

MrsBadger · 05/02/2007 20:09

I'm a research scientist

big-picture, I love it, I'm Saving The World, which is always satisfying.

small-picture, I have to get out of bed in the morning, wrestle Excel, deal with useless students and answer inane emails from my useless boss...

HonorMatopoeia · 05/02/2007 20:11

I'm a Primary Teacher - I love the teaching but the job doesn't let you concentrate on that anymore so I now hate it. Anyone want to give me a job?

helenhismadwife · 05/02/2007 22:29

love my job not mad on the shifts though especially early mornings

pinkchampagne · 05/02/2007 22:35

Twinklemegan · 06/02/2007 21:21

Linnet - big sympathies. We're going through job evaluation here as well, and we're getting the results soon. You can be sure none of the managers will be losing out

Tortington · 06/02/2007 21:24

i work for a housing association and i hate it, it's like working for a big multinational i keep saying to myslef 2 ITS A CHARITY ITS A CHARITY" not making a profit for someone else is important to me.

granarybeck · 07/02/2007 17:59

Linnet, which local authority do you work for?

roisin · 07/02/2007 18:18

I'm a cover supervisor at secondary school. It's a bit of a rollercoaster job-satisfaction-wise. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I loathe it: mostly depending on whether I think I'm doing a good job and making an impact on the students, and the extent to which I'm being frustrated by other people!

For the past couple of weeks I've been loving it again

tickledmyfancy · 07/02/2007 19:53

I work in a Pre-school and love it although the money is dire.

Posey · 07/02/2007 19:54

Snap Tickledmyfancy!!

geekgrrl · 07/02/2007 19:55

I'm a freelance translator and hate it

bananaloaf · 07/02/2007 19:56

local authority - single status here as well!

janeite · 07/02/2007 20:31

I'm a teacher in an inner-city secondary school. I love it - or rather I love the teaching. Hate the staffroom politics and the paper work.

chocolatekimmy · 07/02/2007 21:07

HR - Love it

I work for a distribution centre for a large supermarket. Loads of dodgy characters who keep me busy with disciplinaries as well as an element of welfare based work, flexible working, absence management, drug and alcohol policy. Heavily unionised which makes it even more interesting

2nervesleft · 07/02/2007 21:14

I run a project that provides training.

Love it.

Think I would carry on if I won the lottery!

Me: Management Accountant

I do enjoy it, love & hate are possibly too strong however! If I won the lottery I'd probably give up for a bit but I'd want to do some form of paid work.

Blondilocks · 07/02/2007 21:31

I think that if I hated me job I'd have to find another one.

Linnet · 07/02/2007 22:02

for those who asked me I'm in Tayside, don't want to give away exact area incase I'm recognised.

granarybeck · 08/02/2007 08:46

Hi Linnet, sorry I wasn't just being nosey. My dh is just involved at work in looking at Local Authorities that aren't impleting single status properly/fairly, especially for women. So just wondered if it was somewhere i knew he was involved with, might have been able to give positive news. Feel free to get in touch if I could rack his brains for any advice

sunnywong · 08/02/2007 08:49

chef for a groovy catering company, casual basis. I LOVE it. First paid work in 6 years

abgirl · 09/02/2007 12:38

Manager at an examinations board - hate the day to day tedium, work is v cyclical, love the changes that are coming in and proper management issues - HR, policy and strategy decisions and the buzz of over 500 temps each summer!

Peridot30 · 09/02/2007 12:54

I work in a bar part time. I do 2 evenings a week and i love it. Great atmosphere and it also fits in with dh work and kids.
