Don't think I want to go back....

My year's leave ends at the end of April, had said I'd go back in February, but definitely don't want to do that and to be honest I don't want to go back at all - I think.

I enjoyed my job and really thought I'd be glad to go back part-time, BUT... I love being a Mummy even more and don't want to miss out.

We could just about manage on DH's wage, would just mean no holidays abroad for a few years and I'm feeling selfish because I'm weighing up which I want more - time at home with DD or two weeks on a beach. TBH - I want them both! Sorry for the ramble, just needed to get it out of my head and onto 'paper'.

Is it possible for you to go back p/t say 2 or 3 days a week ?

If so it might be worth giving it a go for 6 months and then if you don't like it you can give up whereas it is harder the other way round. It would also keep your skills and experience up to date should you wish to do more hours later.

However as FioFio says you need to do what is right for you.

i felt exactly the same as you up until a few weeks ago. Im back at work on monday after 10 months off and i was dreading it.
But now that its getting nearer im looking forward to some adult conversation and a bit of me time. Im only doing 3 days a week.
Ds will be with my sil and is going to toddlers and playgroup with her so he will benefit from it as well.
We could manage on dp's wage but tbh i want my independance back a bit and im looking forward to having that extra cash so i can put it towards our holidays and spoling ds even more than i can now.
Is it possible that you could do something for even 2 days a week?

We've decided! I'm staying at home. DD is only little once and I can return to work when she's older!

I decided to stay at home, as someone else said you won't get the time back.

I work from home with the girls which earns us a little extra money enough to pay for a few treats and we've managed a holiday in this country but not quite abroad YET

Perhaps you could get a p/t job in the evening or do something working from home. I'm an Usborne team leader it works brillantly for me and my family. It wasn't til i started looking i realised how many things there are for us mums to do. I can give you more info on what i do if you want. [email protected]

I'm having the same debate in my head. I had decided to go back after the year and then hopefully if/when LO number 2 came along I would stay at home, but now I am thinking if I was going to give up in a year or so anyway, and can afford to be at home now (just, but no hols etc!) what difference will leaving now really make and having that extra time with my DS. I also think how I would regret going back if we didn't manage to have another LO... its so hard!! People keep asking don't I need more in my life than staying at home with my baby, but then surely your family are the most important thing in anyones life-I will miss adult talk etc but they aren't little forever... I'm waffling now, sorry!!
