Lost out on job by being 'overqualified'

Just found out I didn't get my dream job as they thought I was overqualified and would get bored The really annoying thing is that although I probably am overqualified and there were other factors involved in my decision like location near to home/nursery I was really excited about the job itself and thought I could do a really great job for them. Clearly I didn't do a good job of putting that accross in the interview. I don't WANT a job that is too taxing or with too much responsibility as DD is my priority now. Anyone else faced this hurdle in their job search? How did you overcome it? if you did

But they asked me about package in the interview and I said I would be happy with what was offered in the ad. Just so frustrated with myself for letting such a good opportunity slip through my grasp.

they just don't understand other priorities - I have the same issue - no demanding job thanks yes you are getting good value for money from me but no won't be wombling off as it suits me t a t no commute, child at school nearby time to walk the dog and do the house and do crafty stuff etc etc

penguin try and find a bright side - I took a job like this when I had DD1 and 18 months later I left because I was so utterly bored. Sometimes these things seem like a good idea but in reality you would be bored witless, even if your DD is your priority - you can't prioritize them while you're actually at work so maybe look for something that isn't too much of a sacrifice? It's hard to find the words to say that you're looking for a step down to prioritize your DD without it coming across wrongly. When I got the step down job I explained it in terms of being necessary as I'd moved sector etc - some other explanation than I viewed it as a necessary step down.

What's really annoying is that at no point during the interview did they express a doubt or give me a chance to address these concerns. Oh well. At least I won't have to work for a company that used 'there' when they meant 'their' on the website!

ime, it is a very.polite (and not very helpful) way of saying they prefer for whatever reason some of the other candidates.

they invited you to the interview and were clearly aware of your CV and qualifications so the 'overqualified' is a very lazy excuse but it happens.
