I started this is in Sept. Would really appreciate conversing with anyone else doing the course right now. Have been enjoying the learning but am really struggling to get my head around the academic requirements of completing the first assignment (Harvard referencing etc). We've been told it's the hardest assignment of the course and the tutor considers it a baptism of fire. I had a tutorial last week however I came away more confused then I was before and was given feedback that the work I had done was too detailed. I've since cut the detail down but am finding it really hard putting together the project plan and Gantt chart despite thinking I understood both during the lessons. The assignment is to review the recruitment and selection process for cost savings and employee engagement. I get the subject, know what my answer would be too do those things but I'm confused by the fact I'm actually meant to be writing about the project not the things that may come out of the project. The tutor said "you are not actually doing the project you are telling me how you will do the project". Yep confusing isn't it!!

Hi, I have just submitted my last assignment and keeping everything crossed. I know exactly where you are coming from and my biggest problem was actually understanding the question?? I used to get myself stressed out thinking I understood what was wanted, then over thinking it. In the end, I used to read the literature that was set, get some idea of what I thought was wanted and then spoke to the tutor. When I asked them to explain the question to me in plain English, what a difference!!! I actually knew what they were talking about. Maybe it's just me but I don't like jargon and I don't like big words I don't understand. The assignments became a whole lot easier once I had spoken with the tutors and they were all great and didn't make me feel stupid for asking. Good luck!

Hi all, I am also doing my Level 5 CIPD in college. struggling with full time work and full time parenting! By any chance has anyone completed 5LMS? seems to be quite a new one and i'm struggling to find any useful content online to help. It is regarding Developing Leadership and Management Skills. Not sure if it the assignment or due to it being towards the end of the course, but seem to have hit a massive HR shaped wall. Any help or guidance would be a massive help and greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi @hayley1511 I'm going to look at my notes but LMS doesn't sound familiar I have to say... good luck!

I pretty much googled most of my materials to use :)

Amadmum · 05/12/2018 15:23

I have just been given 5LMS to do.

@hayley1511 how did you get on in the end? Any advice of where to look?

I am currently doing a masters / CIPD level 7 qualification. I am quite close to the end now and happy to help if I can. I don't understand what "5LMS" is though?

Hi everybody, I have started my CIPD Level 5, and I am good with all the information but when it comes to an assignment, I cannot digest even the title-making cover sheet. I feel so dumb. Can someone advise me or maybe can assist me with my studying. I am working as an HR Manager, but even though feel like it is so horribly difficult to cope with this study. I would appreciate any kind of help or advice. Thank you.

I'm doing the level 5 and I wondered if anyone had any tips or advice on the unit 2 summative - "using information in HR"?

I don't currently work in HR and I'm rather stuck and confused.

Anothername19 · 17/10/2019 20:14

I’m doing level 5 and am on unit 2 as well. Do you mean the assessment brief/task? It’s bonkers, doesn’t matter that you don’t work in HR. No CEO in the history of the world has asked for that report Grin

So I don’t have any tips but hopefully you feel better that I work in HR and am equally confused. My college has a forum of its own where the tutor will answer questions too - does yours?

mummyinbonniescotland · 18/10/2019 09:21

Yes we have a forum for discussions although I don't like the tutor much. For the last assignment, she said my formative was 'very well done', then for my summative first submission, she failed me and highlighted lots of mistakes. She isn't very clear in her feedback and just confuses me.

I'm going to do this assignment on inclusive recruitment practices. I have no idea what to write, how to word it, structure it etc. I feel a bit scared after the previous feedback :(
