Ofsted and silly nappy cream regulations...

Has anyone else using a nursery been told that Ofsted now insist that every child has a fresh tub of nappy cream EACH MONTH?
I'd be happier about complying with this rule if I could find a good source of small jars of Sudocrem. Boots only sell it in barrel-sized vats - one of which lasted ds for his entire four-year career in nappies. And his backside does not appear to have been traumatised by our lack of cream hygiene...

we dont have to do this but... we have to sign to say we allow them to put her nappy cream on her own bum...how silly!@

Don't know if it makes a difference to Ofsted, but dd's bottom cream comes in a tube. She has had the same tube in her nursery bag for 2 years- don't know if it has ever been used- I've never checked!

LOL.....why not see if you could find one of those teeny tiny trial size pots that newborns are given in the free packs? (Do you know what I mean?) Then you could just top it up every month and feel very smug that you have 'beaten' the system! I bet some of the new Mums on MN have one they could send you.

Collision - I still have ds' original Bounty jar-let. Good idea, I'll see what nursery say! Will also check about tubes as dh spotted some ancient dusty tubes of sudocrem hiding in our local pharmacy.

sq, do not under any circumstances raise it with the nursery staff! I am beginning to think our lot have gone bonkers over this...or are developing a sideline flogging barely used jars of Sudocrem.
Good old Ofsted - never there when children do Houdini manoeuvres or the classroom is 50% too small - always willing to poke their noses in when it comes to the inessentials...Jimjams said they were rubbish on another thread!

So how does that work then when the nursery provide all the creams themselves? Do they have to prove to Ofsted that they have replaced all the creams each month.....so show them the half empty jars in the bin?????

Marina I work in a ofsted approved nursery and I have never heard that we have to change the nappy cream every month. how would ofsted know? I would just keep two seperate pots and swap them each time if they are going to be funny about it.

very strange - I sent in cream for dd and when it ran out she just uses the communal jar / tub that is for their class. The nursery have just had the ofsted not too long ago and this was not raised - or I was not asked to buy more for dd.

I also used Tesco sensitive skin - white tub/pink lid in a small size - as good as Sudocrem - if that is a help.

Any chance that this is rubbish and nursery are just using Oftsted as an excuse for some ridiculous reason of their own? Or maybe nursery had some complete idiot Ofsted inspector... my ds (10 months) is in full-time nursery and I've never heard this daft idea. Staff use gloves when changing nappies and wash their hands afterwards, I really can't see that there is a hygiene issue here.

Mind you, I did have to sign all sorts of ridiculous forms to give nursery permission to use a bog-standard over-the-counter emollient cream on his eczema... what would Ofsted recommend they do, harm a child because they don't have the right forms?
