How do I word my c.v/apply for a job that I'm am over experienced for?

Due to husbands ill health (he is self employed and has had to drop a few clients) Im considering applying for a couple of jobs to help boost our family income.
I've been a stay at home/homeschooling mum for the last 8 years. Prior to that I ran my own catering business. Ive taken on a few jobs during this time, but totally on my own terms, and more for fun or because it was an interesting project, rather than for the money.
A few waiting on jobs are being advertised locally and I would like to apply. I dont want a managerial position, Im more than happy to serve tables and wash pots :)
Im looking for advice really on how to put myself across as a possible good candiate, without coming across as over experienced. Also, If successful in my application's I dont want to become an 'accidental' manager/supervisor because of my experience (been there, done that!)
Basically, how do I sell myself without bigging myself up too much?

tbh, with an 8yr gap on your CV, you aren't going to look wildly over qualified unless you also have a PhD. Just put your whole history there succinctly and be clear about the type of role you want.

I agree, I wouldn't worry about being overqualified (I don't mean that to sound harsh). Keep your cv concise and draw out any relevent experience I.e. If youve waited tables and washes pots before draw attention to it. I also think its a good idea to apply for roles like this in person where appropriate.

oh, im not qualified!!! Just experienced, pulled my first pint when I was 13 :) A looong time ago.
Thanks for advice. I'll be applying in person. Its been a long time since ive written a cv having worked for myself for so long, Ill keep it clear amd concise.
