Opinions on a new business idea

Hello, I just wanted some opinions please on a new business idea. I am currently on maternity leave and have wished to start my own business for a long time.

I am based in the South and am a Designer and Qualified Lecturer. My business idea is kind of a two pronged approach. I wish to offer design services: Wedding Stationery, Branding, Editorial etc but would also like to look at running some children's craft classes as I would like to put my teaching experience to good use, possibly with an option to host classes or activities at birthday parties etc.

If you were interested in taking your children to a craft class what kind of activities would you like to see?

Any honest opinions or advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Crazy cat lady! I just read your message and have been sitting here racking my brains as to what my 2 girls would enjoy doing craft wise- they are 7 and 10 -not sure what sort of age range you were thinking about but I reckon if you could drag them away from their ipads long enough they would enjoy some sort of jewellery making. They are also really into painting nails- not exactly crafty but maybe nail art??

Have you thought about a franchise for a craft class - there are quite a few out there and can make it less risky for you.
My kids of 3 and 5 love anything messy (one is into crafting mud pies and other creations). Pot painting is always popular and nice to get something to take home.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will go away and do some more research. In regards to age groups I am keeping my options on that one at the moment until I have checked out what is currently available in the local areas. I am really excited about the prospect of this so I am just hoping I can get the idea to reality! As this is something I really enjoy and I worked so hard to get my qualifications I am determined to make it work. Smile

Also, do you think parents would be interested in classes that run in the summer holidays?
