'Why do you want to work for us?' Social enterprise job interview question

I recently had an interview for a social enterprise team providing MH services in the community. One of the questions that really threw me was, 'why do you want to work for us?'

The real answer is, I'm newly qualified and gagging for a job, this one was near home and one of the few I've seen that I meet criteria for! I think I mumbled something about how I'd heard they were good to work for (I hadn't )

How can I answer better in future?

do your research before the interview, and make sure you have answers prepared which refer to the aims, achievements and vision of the organisation you are applying for, and explain how it matches yours, and how your strengths can help them meet their aims.
