Accountant recommendations for small businesses/freelancers

i am thinking about starting up and wondered if any of you had any recommendation, comments or suggestions on a good accountant?

Look in your local area, go and meet a few, ask lots of questions, make sure they are a member of a professional body. Find someone you like and make sure they have some experience in your sector. Most accountants will meet you for a chat for free.
