Advice for DH - job interview - powerpoint presentation - management strategies...HELP!!!

Trying to be a helpful and supportive wife, but lack of knowledge in the field means I cant give useful and purposeful advice! Someone in MN must be able to!!!

Basically DH has interview for job which involves a powerpoint presentation detailing how he would spend his first 30, 60 and 90 days in the role. How he would prioritise his time, how he would manage the unit, where he would be and why I think! He would be working in a new geographical area and would be managing a team of 6 in the financial sector and would be the link to local intermediaries(sp?). The job has been empty for 3 months.
My first thoughts were going out and meeting/schmoozing with the local intermediaries, raising the profile of his company, as well as getting to know the customers of his team and his team... but thats where I have come to a full stop.
Also he has to put this into powerpoint... I thought about Ready, STeady GO... as in 30, 60 and 90 days but dh says that is too simple(you can tell I am a primary teacher!) He was think more of Blast Off and Orbit or something... wasnt really listening as he had trounced my ideas! Any whizzy and memorable suggestions for that?? Thankyou

Any ideas, all very gratefully received! Thankyou.

Hmmmm I'd want it too tak eless than 3 montsh before any manager I interviewed was raedy to GO/Climax/reached the summit

I woudl suggest that by 90 days he shoudl aim to be in some sort of consolidation of what he has achieved OR maybe applying his acquired knowledge back into the system.

Stage 1 is learning about the issues/people and what needs to be done.
Stage 2 is doing it.
Stage 3 is learning from what you have done, embedding the improvements, re-visiting things that haven't quite acheived what you set out to ...

maybe?

No whizzy names sorry....I can't do that sort of stuff...

JessaJackOLantern · 01/11/2006 13:52

achieved obviously

would expect him to spend 30 days orientating himself in org - understanding stakeholder map, meeting team, customers, stakeholders, internal service providers, plus his account managers in finace, risk, IT and HR. should also be familiarising himself with corporate, product and business unit strategies.

next 30 days testing his learning - applying his observations to the plans, formulating his strategy and testing his thinking with his boss and stakeholders, then next 30 days implementing.

Does the company or team have a vision or values he can reference? that might provide the structure?

Wow thats way too technical for me, but I'm sure he'll understand it! He should be mega impressed by my new found management speak!

30 days - Understudy - i.e gathering all the information he requires to be able to undertake the role. Learning, listening collating

60 days - Performer - putting into practice all the information he has gleaned. Increasing his knowledge

90 days - Award Winner - over achievement on targets set, raising the goal posts even higher.
