Handing in my notice today why do I feel so bad?

I went for an interview last week and had a call yesterday to tell me that I have been offered the job.
It is less hours so means less money take home and I had told my boss on Monday that I didn't really want to go anywhere else.
I do have issues with a collegue, she doesn't like it if anyone makes a decision that she doesn't like and I seem to be in the line of fire when she blows . It has happened before and she really did say some nasty things and I can feel it is brewing again.
This is the main reason for me going which I feel is sad as I didn't ever think I would leave this company.
After the last blow up I was told that she was stressed and that they would talk to her when she had less of a workload but it never happened.
To make matters worse it is the boss's birthday today too!

who do you feel bad for? yourself or your boss?

tell them thanks you've enjoyed it but have been made a much better offer .. if they care that much they might try to keep you

A bit of both really. They have been good employers and I know that it won't be easy to replace me.
Even if they offered me anything better it would need to be something serious about the person in question other wise she will carry on getting her own way! sometimes it makes me wonder who is in charge there!

a good employer wouldn't let a colleague bully another one though and if they'd done their job properly in managing their workforce you wouldn't have been looking for another job in the first place

you're just feeling guilt .. get over it

and congratulations on your new job

I worked with someone like that who had been there a long long time, she tried to make my life a misery, then I stood up to her and she tried to make it even more miserable.

She didn't succeed but it created a division within the department, with LGJ and against LGJ, eventually she ended up in the against corner on her own, but it was not a pleasant time.

The office closed due to relocation, she handed in her notice, the MD asked her if she would lengthen her notice period, she was strutting around feeling indispensable and in charge, turned out he wanted her to run year end before she left.

I have a new temp contract, and have never been happier.

You are doing the right thing.

THanks guys!

They are thinking of moving her office but I'm not convinced that it will change anything so I am going to go!
Am upset but I'll get over it
