Hello,

I've been mooching around MN for ages now but this is my first time posting. Sorry it's asking for help, not offering!

So basically I had a yummy DD in May. I had loads of problems in work leading up to the end, mostly with a woman who I had been really friendly with but suddenly turned nasty and started bullying me. Turns out she was pregnant too but didn't want to say till after I had left. Anyway long story short everytime I went to my manager she told me it was a personal problem, sort it out myself etc. So I don't want to go back now, I had to leave before my leave was due to start due to stress.

So we had this brill idea that I'd set up a website selling baby clothes and accessories but aiming more at the gift market. So far I've found some suppliers whose stuff I like and am making contact with them at the moment. I've ordered a couple of things but want to start off small. I'm also thinking of taking a stall at a local market in an affluent area so I can have a bit of a physical presence too. (I'm in ireland btw)

Now one of my main problems (apart from I'm very un-technically minded) is that the name I had thought of, Littleones.com has been taken although there is no actual website there. So i need to think of a new name and am suffering from braindeadness. It's a chronic illness that seems to have come about since I got pregnant...

I really need this business to work as DP has a new job but is still training and so only earns 14500pounds a year which is really not enough to live off for long.

Any suggestions? HELP!!! I want to get it live asap!, Well before christmas anyway.

Thanks in advance,
A
ps I'm posting here mostly because the mean woman from work posts on almost all of the irish forums and you all seem nice and supportive here!

Hi there. What's your colloquial name for babies - is there an Irish one, like bairns or something. Something that people would associate with and would search for. Good idea to visit a market. Are there craft fairs, Christmas markets you could try too. Spring Fairs. These a normally a good way for you to starting marketing yourself as a good on-line supplier of babygifts etc.

Thanks Alibaldi for replying.
Well Baba is the Irish for baby but there's already a lovely site, bababeag.ie which means little baby.

I had thought of doing the irish language thing but tbh not that many people are fluent irish speakers and I didn't want to alienate people. Although most would understand something simple like bababeag, anything else would confuse.

This is so difficult!

I had a similar idea but wasn't brave enough! Got fairly stuck in back at work so here are my pipe-dream names for your perusal, with best wishes for a successful future!

pitterpatter...
tinytoes
angelbabies
Babydays
Lots for tots

(just noticed they're all fairly similar...I loved the name of a clothing range at Debenhams, babbleboom, so was inspired by that!)

I haven't got any ideas that spring to mind at the moment, will try and come up with some but I am not the most creative!

Just wanted to wish you good luck and think its great that you are doing this and hope that it really takes off for you.

Flowermum · 05/10/2006 12:22

Scaryboobs (hehehe) I really like PitterPatter, will go have a look now and see if it's taken.

Thanks beaner07, I bloody hope it takes off for me too! Or else it'll be tesco value beans on toast for the rest of the year!

Any joy with PitterPatter fm?

Flowermum · 07/10/2006 13:25

Nope, it's gone! But I like that type of thing, not too obvious but still baby related.

Ahh, that's a shame.

Do you ever buy baby/parenting magazines? I find their classified ads at the back quite inspiring, if you see a name you like it can quite often set off a train of thought. And they give you a good idea of what's alrady out there so that you can spot your niche.

Good luck with it, it's such an exciting idea and I'd love to hear how you're getting on, so keep us posted. If I come up with any names along the lines of PitterPatter (usually at about 4am when bump is wriggling!) I'll jump straight on here to let you know!

Blossombabes.com?

It's available!!! And I like it!!!

scaryboobs · 09/10/2006 13:58

I like it! Lots of images spring to mind for logos, grpahics etc and because it's got that nice flowery organic feel to it you could go down the eco-fiendly, organic products line too if you wanted. AND, the blossom part has associations with pregnancy so you could even add maternity/new mum products and still have a strong identity! I'd snap it up quick! Good luck!
