I work part time in a secondary school finance office but have been gradually doing more and more hours as there is just so much work to get through. I am on a 22 hour contract all year round but regularly do more than this. My manager works full time term time. I don't mind doing the extra hours but have asked to change my contract to more hours during term time and less hours in the holidays. This would not only suit me better but would actually suit school better as there is too much to do during term time, never can stay on top of it so always play catch up in the holidays. It makes sense to work more when the school is actually open. My boss is never here in the holidays. Just two of us in our department.
Just wondering if there is anyone else in school finance and how many people in their departments. I think we are desperately short staffed but I have nothing to compare to as this is my first school job, always worked in companies before.
