Anyone there who's a clerk to school governors?

I'm keen to hear from any clerks to school governors - pros and cons of the role, whether you're paid per hour or a flat fee etc. Was it difficult to get your first role without a background in education? I have the skilset they ask for but work in a charity.

Thanks

I'm not one but I pay the wages of one who is IYSWIM. He's paid by the hour, c. £9. He's been doing it forever, vacancies rarely come up here because the handful of clerks already dealing with existing schools in the Borough jump at the chance to take on another. They might be advertised, but in reality will be quickly filled by someone doing the job at another school nearby. Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I have applied for a couple of posts so far, so hope that they are genuinely recruiting, not just advertising because they are obliged to! It would be an ideal flexible role.
