So ive got an interview Wednesday after applying online, had a call today and the lady said i had passed the online phase and could I come in for an interview with my passport and NI card.

I thought you only had to show them when you had got the job ? In my current job that's what I did anyway.

Have always had to take these to interviews (nhs).

More and more interviewers are asking for them now - it's to weed out those not entitled at an early stage before they invest time and effort assessing them.

Equally, an NI card isn't essential - I took a P60 instead.

I've had to take them to interviews.

You don't need the card.. just something in your name with your NI number on and your passport obviously.

gamerchick · 22/09/2014 13:51

Unless you have it. I wouldn't know where mine is now.

We ask for them early. Weeds out the load of applicants who don't have a right to work here.

Heels99 · 22/09/2014 13:57

Completely normal so don't worry. Its to prove you are eligible to work go UK.

boogiewoogie · 22/09/2014 14:03

Seems pretty standard nowadays. It is to prove that you are eligible to work in the UK.
