Stressed off work but would rather say to work that sore throat

Do not want to admit stress as might put myself in a situation when employer might see me as weak ...my work requires a lot of contact with people etc Feel safer to say sore throat...I know it is wrong...but feel this is appropriate in my situation...

But if you don't tell them the real reason then you both can't work to lower your stress levels.

If you must lie about this time then I would talk to your manager and tell them the truth. 'Im very stressed and wonder if this is running me down. Can we talk about this?'

No good will come of lying long term.

Why leave your previous thread to start a new one? In your other thread you were intending to tell your employer you were suffering with stress but wanted to keep it from your doctor. Now you also want to hide it from your employer? It won't get better if you don't involve your doctor and your employer and give them the opportunity to help

So when you've recovered from your "sore throat" and returned to work how do intend to address your stress?

Please talk to your manager.

I reached a point recently where I was on the verge of goodness knows what. I spoke at length to my manager, and between us we have a way forward. I have a way forward. I am definitely still very stressed out, but I am developing coping mechanisms with the full support of my manager who takes duty of care very seriously.

Be adult and talk openly. It will help.

I presume you are self-certifying? So you can only be off for a week before you NEED to see a GP in order to get an extension. If you are planning on returning to work after a week, what will have changed which relieves your stress? Probably nothing, in such a short time. What will you do then?

Why are you so reluctant to admit to stress? Is your employer unsympathetic?

Oh I just read your other thread. Honestly, you sound like you need to see your doctor. Your are so stressed you can't see the wood for the tress - you don't want to tell your GP, then you don't want to tell your employer, then you are going to self-certify citing stress, then it's a sore throat .... this is not going to get better in a week or on its own. Please get some help.
