In current job but desperately need a change and want to leave!

I've worked where I've worked for past 4 years. Been bullied there but it's now stopped.

Am underpaid but get nervous doing certain things (like typing tests, I'm legal PA/secretary).

Doesn't help that I work SW London whereas most of the jobs I want are in City/West End. That means if I see recruitment agencies etc I have to take time off work etc.

I just seem to be getting increasingly down and have no backbone when it comes to leaving. I say to people "I'm going to leave this summer" and occasionally ring agencies to arrange appointments but I seem to hit a brick wall.

I just know that if I don't leave this summer I'll be there forever. My confidence basically needs a kick up the backside! What could/can I do? has anyone else felt like this?

should I maybe completely retrain?

thanks!

Why wait for the summer? Why not book a couple of days holiday and get yourself lots of appointments with agencies for those days?

If your confidence is low and you're working somewhere where you've been bullied before, you'll probably find that as soon as you leave, you'll feel soooo much better.

Ask me how I know. Wink

I wouldn't retrain, that's probably a reaction to lack of confidence. You're probably very well able to do your existing job, just somewhere which values you more.
