With a view to running your own business?

I considered it but the courses mainly seem to be 2 years full time where I live, and I don't think the distance learning options are suitable unless you want to just do it as slightly more than a hobby - they aren't qualifications that local salons would accept (I checked!) so would be very limited in where you could work if self employed didn't take off.

Also depends how steep the competition is where you are - what could you offer that others can't eg is there not many who work mobile in your area, so you could do that? Where I am there's loads of salons but I wouldn't want to travel to strangers homes so I would probably have to find a job in a salon initially, with a view to setting up for myself once I had built a good client list.
