confused taking time off to look after baby

Hii had to take a week off in december to look after my baby. In my pay in january nothing was deducted. Does that mean wen i get paid for january it will be taken out then? Feeling confused.

Where I work, managers have the discretion to award leave to care for dependants in an emergency (which is generally paid but should only last a day or two while alternative care is arranged) and other special leave (I.e. No annual leave) either with or without pay.

I would talk to your manager. They may have logged it as annual leave, which would explain the pay, in which case you'll need to know to adjust your balance/request pay is docked instead.

You need to talk to your maanger and see how the absence in December was marked.

No one here can tell you when your employer makes deductions. Assuming you've checked your staff handbook/policy/contract and have no reason to think you're entitled to paid leave for this absence, you need to say to your manager that you were expecting a week's pay to be deducted in January and it hasn't been, could she confirm when it will be taken out or what's happened.
