Interview for f/t position but want p/t

Hello, looking for some advice.
I have an interview for a great job on Friday, however the position is for f/t and I can only work p/t as I'm also studying for a degree.
At the moment I am the only interviewee so does anyone have any tips on how to convince prospective employer to consider the possibility of jobshare?

Not a home base kind of job unfortunately and the proposed hours are very long. I am qualified for the position, it's a 10 minute walk from my house and the degree I'm doing is relevant to the profession so I'm hoping that all works in my favour. It's just impossible to get a p/t position despite it being a predominantly female profession, there must be others in my position wanting p/t. I guess all I can do is suggest jobshare and see how it goes down.

I think the max I could do Jean would be 30 hours although ideally 25 which is what I was working until recently. Am a lone parent also so childcare is an issue.

If they don't have many other suitable applicants, they may be happier with a decent part-timer than a sub-standard full-tuner or vacant post.
The last job I applied for they were looking to fill two full-time positions. I could only work part-time. As it happened, I was the only applicant and they were desperate so I got the job!

See how the interview goes and wait for the job offer. Then present them with a plan of how you can do the job in 30 hours.

Would you have any staff reporting to you?

When do you finish your degree?

What field is it in?

No staff reporting to me, it's in the veterinary field, the surgery is open long hours so the job can't really be done in less hours iyswim. The degree i'm doing is very flexible so could be anything from 2 years to 5 depending on how many modules i do per trimester. I don't actually need the degree for this job but i need it for my long term plan which is teaching. I could do f/t for holiday cover etc just not permanently. I'll wait to see how the interview goes and take it from there. Thanks for the advice.

Good luck with the interview. See if they offer you the job first. I wouldn't mention it at the interview stage.
