advice needed - 2 jobs, 1 employer

I'd really appreciate some advice on this, particularly from anyone involved in recruitment. I currently work very part time hours for a university and I'm applying for both part-time and full time jobs at other universities. Two jobs have just come up at another university. One job is at a similiar grade to my current post and is part-time with hours that would really suit. The other is full-time and at a higher grade, but because of previous work experience I have I am qualified to apply for it. Both jobs have the same closing date. Do you think it would affect my chances of being shortlisted for either post if I apply for both? The jobs are in different parts of the uni but obviously HR will notice that I've applied for both. Thoughts welcome please!

It may differ from University to University, but from what I recall, we got a notification, after shortlisting, that the person we were interviewing had applied for another post at the University which would be interviewing a couple of days later. It didn't stop us hiring her, it was just a case of knowing we had to impress her if we wanted her to choose us over the other post!

Thanks for replying grendelsmum. I really want the lower grade post as it is something I am interested in and the hours would be perfect. I suppose I was worried that they might not even shortlist me for that post if they see me going for the higher grade post as they will assume that I would automatically prefer the higher grade post (which I suppose for most people would be the case)!
