I am considering training to become a workplace/employment mediator and would really love to speak with someone who is experienced in this field. Anyone?

Thank you!

I have completed a course in internal workplace mediation.

I mediate internally, as opposed to being called in as an external mediator.

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi chanie. Thanks for responding. So, do you mediate internally for a company that you already worked for before you completed the course? Are you in HR or a legal dept?

I'm still employed by the company I mediate for. I work in HR, but mediators should be impartial so it doesn't matter what role you do.

I'm not sure how much interest there is for external employment mediators. I think it's easier to build up a business if you already have contacts. One of the problems I have found is that mediation does rely on the total commitment of both parties and when it falls apart, the mediator gets blamed.

Some voluntary organisations pay for training so you can work for them, it may be worth investigating this to see if you like it.
