Anyone familiar with NHS jobs??

Hi, I have just accepted a clerical job with the NHS, which comes at a good time, as I have just returned to work from maternity leave and my current employer refused to let me work part-time. I had been thinking about working for the NHS for years but just needed that 'push' to really make me get on with it! Anyway, I went for a few interviews with the NHS before I was offered this job with no joy (the first 2 I was really gutted about as they would have been ideal for me). I then got offered this job which is not ideal hours-wise, but I just thought it's a foot in the door, it might be ages before I'm offered anything else and anything is an improvement from my current job. However I have now been invited for an interview for another NHS job that I applied for before I was offered this one, and this job would be much better hours for me. I'm wondering, is it ok to go for this interview? And if I am offered it, would I actually be allowed to accept it and would it be considered really bad practice if I did as I would be letting the original people down? Am I even allowed to go for the interview seeing as I have already accepted this other job? I don't want to seem cheeky and ungrateful I'm just thinking of what would be more ideal for me and my family. I probably accepted the job a bit too hastily but I just got really excited that I had finally been successful. If anyone has any insights I'd be very grateful.

Congratulations! 'Fess up and tell 1st lot you want to make right decision for them as well as for you and need time to consider other options. If they want you, they'll wait. And tell other lot about job offer at interview- make them want you more!

Thanks Salbertina, that sounds like a good way to go, but wouldn't they be annoyed that i have actually accepted the first job? It would be different if id said so before formally accepting, in fact that's what i should have done, its just that i was so shocked and happy that i had got it!
