Going to work to do KIT days whilst on maternity leave?

Gone in for keeping in touch days, has anyone done this? Did you regret it?

I don't want to do it as I know this is the longest time il not be working probably forever, but money is beyond tight and I need to really.

Does it make going back to work eventually easier? xxx

Bear in mind you don't necessarily have to do a full day - you can claim a KIT day just for going in for a meeting.

It did make going back easier, and it was actually very enjoyable. Do check exactly what your employer's rules are on KIT days and pay, there's some flexibility here so you want to check what you'll be paid.

I did but I only did one day a month for the last 3 months. And they weren't full days to be honest.
I used them as catching up days really. Can't recall doing any constructive work
Mostly chatting and catching up with colleagues and finding out bits and pieces about what was going on in the business. I think it did make going back a bit easier as I wasn't going back blind so to speak and colleagues were expecting me if that makes sense. It's quite easy to be forgotten particularly if you take the full year.
So yes, I'd recommend even if you only manage a couple.

I have 5/6 months maternity leave left so was thinking maybe doing 2 days a month? Can't decide whether to work 1 day every 2 weeks or to work 2 days every 4 weeksish if that makes sense xxx

I had five and a half months off

had 12 weeks at home and then went in over busy periods and did my normal job

even did stuff in evenings etc

I went in for monthly team meetings for a few months on both mat leaves, and took the baby with me (no local family). I.left when they got too unsettled and stopped going when they became too.mobile to sit still for long. Second mat leave I also went to a few full- office meetings as my line manager asked me too, with baby, because we were being restructured and moving office. Once dd got too big, my line manager came to see me at home and counted that as KIT time. She counted any incident I was at work for / she was with me as a KIT day. I took all my KIT days as time in lieu at the end of my mat leave. I thought thus system worked so well, I have done it myself for new mums who I manage.

I did 2 half days a week for 5 weeks. It eased me into it. Eased DS into childcare and gave me a chance to get used to being away from him. It worked well for us. Helped DS get used to eating if I wasn't there before having to do a full day.
I also did it because I wanted some extra cash unfortunately they added it on to my wage packets when ireturned rather than paying me at the time though.
But am still glad I did it, much less of a shock to the system.

I did and no I didn't regret it :)

Good luck. Your employer may do KIT days by the hour so check what your contract says. I have just come across this for the first time.

Also you will be paid for KIT days and this pay will go towards meeting the cost of any benefits you receive e.g child care vouchers.
